Microsoft is making significant investments to create the next gen ‘Big Data’ Platform.  The goal of the Big Data Virtual Chapter is provide a PASS community for Microsoft SQL Server professionals to learn about the use of Microsoft SQL Server software with Hadoop and related technologies. Join us to share experiences, problems and solutions, as well as learn new skills for building large-scale Hadoop-based systems using the Microsoft platform.

“Big Data” is a popular topic in the Business Intelligence and analytics communities but what exactly is it, where is interest in the topic coming from, and, more importantly for us BI professionals, what does this mean for the way we tackle business and technology challenges? In this session, we’ll answer these questions, providing you a starting point for further exploration of this exciting new technology space. Bryan Smith: Bryan Smith is a Business Intelligence Technology Specialist with Microsoft where he assists customers in solving enterprise Business Intelligence and analytics challenges using Microsoft technologies. Bryan comes to Microsoft with a background in industry and consulting and is an experienced trainer and author, having co-authored several books on MS BI technologies including SQL Server 2008 MDX Step by Step.
